The Role Of The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association

Remember, asbestos is a toxic substance which has been found to cause various hazardous effects on the health and life of human beings. Remove asbestos, be it in your home or your workplace.

So in order to properly monitor and look for safety in the occupational handling and removal of asbestos and other air borne dangerous materials, contact the Asbestos Removal Contractor's Association (ARCA) which was formed on 1st July 1980. This is considered as the leading asbestos removal trading association in U.K. After the formation of this association, there have been many timely changes in legislation and working procedures.

The members of ARCA are reputed professionals. They are recognized for their good work as specialists of this complex and hazardous industry.

The regionalized structure for ARCA was established in the year 1997. It mainly comprises five regions spanning Scotland, Northern, Midlands, South West and Wales, and South East. The member ship of this association started increasing at a rapid pace. Because of this, the East Anglican region was introduced in the year 2004. The main objective of all the regions was to ensure the local members have a vital and participatory role in the association. Their opinions would thus reach the government council level. A separate chairman and committee are appointed for each region.

The membership of this association has been increased from the four founder members. A lot of credibility has been enjoyed by this association with the local and government authorities. The crème de la crème of every industry is selected to become the members of this association. The association has the provision of five grades of memberships. These include associate members, full time members, information members and asbestos testing and consultancy members, and individual surveyor members.

All these sections of memberships are available to asbestos removing companies which have the appropriate license like UKAS affiliated laboratories, organizations providing goods and services for the companies and any industry having interest in removing asbestos industry. All the memberships are also available to companies abroad despite stringent rules and regulations for the entrance and conditions of membership. To secure membership, you have to convince the governing body of the associations about the maintenance of the existing standards.

Also, the membership criterion requires a code of conduct for the members. A full member in the association is required to be engaged in handling the removal of asbestos and other dangerous materials. This association also offers various specialized courses for handling and removing asbestos.
